Happy New Year!

Well today is the last day of 2007! Where has the time gone?

All is well with us. The Christmas decorations are down and put up. The last items for the nursery have been ordered and we are planning on painting the nursery in the next week or 2.

As we enter 2008 we know that it will be filled with many exciting moments and look forward to each and every one. We wish you a wonderful New Year and look forward to catching up with you then.

God bless!

Wow- where did the time go?

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year!

Well another Christmas has come and gone. We hope that you have a wonderful holiday season and wish you a wonderful New Year!

WB made out very will this Christmas, i'm not sure how we can top it next year. WB has new clothes, a bed, changing table and a glider. Before too much longer WB will have a newly painted room and all its furniture installed. We are hoping to have the nursery all set up by the end of January (or thereabouts...).

The Christmas season is a wonderful time of year and we are looking forward to sharing it with WB next year. Have a wonderful week!

Until next time....

It's cold outside...

It sure is cold outside, it is finally starting to feel like Christmas. If the weather stays like this I may actually wear something other than shorts on Christmas day.

All is well with us. We are just about ready for Santa to come and visit, well about as ready as we will be. Henry is ready to tear into his stocking. He looks at us when we decorate the house with all this stuff but he seems to forget about the huge tree that is in his way when he gets a stocking full of toys just for him.

The real questions is what is WB getting for Christmas? Well not all that much. We have just finalized its room. Well nothing is here just yet but we hope that most of it will be here, put together and looking good by the end of January. The room is close to empty and needs to be painted and that will be done after Christmas. We will have pictures as it is transformed in January.

We wish you all a wonderful Christmas week and a wonderful Holiday Season!

Have a great week!

WB is moving along well...

We just got back from our big ultrasound and everything looks good. No issues with the heart, spine, arms, legs, or lip, so we are very thankful. He/she is moving around quite a bit (I guess I would be to if there were some noise was right in my face and I was getting poked on!). In any case, all seems to be well!

Have a good day!

Its cold outside

Hello everyone!

All is well here. We are 18 weeks and 2 days (18.2). Tomorrow we are scheduled for a targeted ultrasound to look at WB's heart. We are not expecting any thing to be an issue but since I had the issues I had the OB felt it would be best to get things checked out.

The Christmas tree is up and the house it looking like Christmas. I am working on getting a picture of the baby bump and hope to post soon.

Have a great week and stay warm!

Moving forward...

Just thought I would take a second to post and say that all is well here. We are now at 17 weeks...the "baby bump" is getting bigger (along with other parts of me as well), so we're making progress (including progressing completely out of regular clothes!!).

We hope that you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and that the Advent and Christmas season brings much peace and joy!

Happy Turkey Day

We want to wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving. We all have so much to be thankful for!

Happy Thanksgiving,

We are still here..

Sorry for the long delay in posting something. As of today we re 16.1 (16 weeks, 1 day) along this wonderful journey. Martha had a Dr.s appointment last week and all was fine. Next month is the big ultrasound where they can see everything to see if it is developing like it should. At that visit, we will not find out what we are having. In this day of technology there are less and less true surprises in life and this should be one.

It has been a busy week and weekend. Martha spent much of last week traveling for work in Mississippi. We are hoping her travel schedule is calming down a little. This week we started preparing the nursery. Actually that means moving things out of the office where the guest bed can be re-located into the office. We are hoping that everything has been moved around by next weekend.

We wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving and will try and post a little more often.

WB has friends....

WB has friends...lots of them.

We like to travel...sort of

I'm beginning to think that WB is a very big fan of traveling. He or she seems to be comfortable in most places, particularly airport restrooms. We were so excited yesterday on our way home from DC that we couldn't contain ourselves--lunch had to go! :) Oh well! DC was fun--I was there briefly for a meeting and got to see some friends, which is always nice.

Hope that you have a good day!!

First trip to Auburn

WB made the trip to Auburn just fine and is enjoying its first football game. Finally a home game that is not too early or too late.

Martha is feeling better as she end her first trimester (13.6 weeks today). We are hoping to put the sickness phase behind us as we move to second trimester tomorrow.
Martha travels this week so WB will get to experience our nation's Capitol. Thankfully it is not too cold there.

We are closing in on the nursery furniture (well sort of) so stay tuned.

Well Traveled

Well we made it back from the trip to Houston. It was a beautiful wedding and we may have the beginnings of a house plan for when we build our house. All in all is was a great long weekend. WB made the trip well. Martha still is not over the sickness phase but still hopeful it is on its way out. Will post more later this week.

Jet Setting

Well WB likes to travel or we hope it does. We are off to Houston for a wedding and to see my aunt, uncle and cousins. We are cruising at 36,000 feet as I type.

WB does not know my aunt and uncle yet but will come to appreciate them greatly. I am quite sure they will spoil WB rotten every chance they get starting this weekend.

Martha is feeling better. The sickness has not gone away completely but remain hopeful it will continue to get better.

Tray and Randi get married tomorrow night and I am in the wedding. From what I have been told it will be a very formal wedding with a little Texas style. It should be fun! We wish Troy and Randi the best.

Have a great weekend.

Henry's thoughts on WB

Hey there my peeps. It seems that my Mommy and Daddy have been talking an awful lot about this WB character. They tell me that I will be the big brother and I am OK with that. I am also told that WB will hook me up with all kinds of treats of food, this is something I can truly work with.

I am looking forward to being the big brother (as much as a 4 legged fur ball can do). Please note that I do not change diapers, I do not feed children (Only take food) and I am not always quiet when I need to. Other than that I can work with this new addition.

Well that is enough from the HD (Henry Dog) tonight. I will be posting a new update in the coming days. For now I must return to snoozing as I rest up for my trip to Camp Robin this weekend.

Off to sit at the treat jar hoping it may jump off the counter...

Warmest regards...Henry

P.S. Tell my mommy and daddy to hook me up with my own blog. I have lots to say, just ask the kids in the neighborhood and the brown truck guy!

Better...12.2

Happy wet Tuesday everyone...it is raining here and has been all day. It is really starting to feel like Winter.

Martha is feeling better, not 100% but better. We are celebrating 4 days of not being sick. Yesterday was an excellent day, today not so much. She is traveling tonight for work but doing well.

12 weeks...it seems like it has been longer on one hand and only a few days on the other. We are starting to adjust our mindset for the addition of WB. It seems that many are more concerned about what Henry will have to say about WB. Martha and I are confident that he will adjust fairly well after a few days. I feel sure Henry will want to make post on WB's blog very soon. Honestly I think that he is quite upset that he does not have a blog.

Have a great rest of the weekend.

Feeling good...

Good news - Martha is feeling better. She has felt very good the past 2 days and we hope this continues. Tomorrow will be 12 weeks so we hope we are turning the corner, slowly...but turning the corner.

Have a great rest of your weekend (and War Eagle)!

Flipper

Our first "real" OB visit went very well! The ultrasound tech put the sensor on my tummy and we heard this very strange screechy sound. I asked if that was the heartbeat and the tech laughed, saying, "No, that was your baby moving!" We have a dancer, swimmer or just a plain active little person. Heartbeat was good...WB has 2 arms, 2 legs, 2 feet, a big ol' head (that he or she will grown into), and a body. All good signs...

WB is letting up on my tummy a little bit...we had the best day since about mid-August. It was a nice break...we hoping for more! :) Have a good day!

Things are a changing

Well things continue to move along. Martha is feeling a wee bit better (lets focus on the wee bit) and we are starting to evaluate all the needed baby things. This weekend we went to look at baby furniture and saw some really nice things. We also made our first maternity clothing purchases. All in all it was a good weekend...a pricey weekend but a very good weekend.

Have a great week!

Improving...maybe

Hi all!

It seems that things are improving and WB is not making Martha feel quite so bad. As we have said before we are thankful for these feelings but would like to see improvement continue. We are beginning to expore our options within the house on how to make room for this new addition. At this point we are just trying to make the best use of what little space we have. Have a great rest of the week!

Thank you for checking in.

Week 10

Well, we're about 2 weeks away from the end of the first trimester. WB still seems to like to remind me daily (okay, by the minute) that he or she is there by making me feel green and regret anything that I have eaten or had to drink recently. Tampa airport, Southwest airplane, Walgreens, work, home, we travel well and can adapt pretty well too (or try to). Maybe this is a good test for flexibility! It's not the most pleasant experience, but we are thankful...

9.5

9 Weeks, 5 days today.

This has been a good week but WB is still making Martha sick. She was able to get a prescription earlier this week and it worked great one day but not so much the last 2. We know that not feeling well is a good thing but feeling like you are going to get sick most of the day is not very fun. Actually getting sick is even less than fun (she has been there quite a few times...) That being said I will mention that the bathrooms at Walgreens's could be a little cleaner.

We are hoping that we are the downhill side of this...

Have a wonderful weekend.

Excited

Sorry for the delay in getting a new post posted. Well today we are at 9.0.

Earlier this week I had the privilege of attending a funeral for a 8 year old that died of cancer. It is truly tragic that his life was so short but he was able to accomplish so much in such a short period of time. I say that it was privilege because Andrew touched so many in his short life. Martha and I did not know Andrew and his family all that well but Martha did teach Andrew in Sunday School when he was three and we were in Sunday School with is parents.

During his Celebration of Life we were reminded of the vows that the congregation took, as they do in each baptism in our Church, and how they made it possible for someone of this young age be able to face the end of his life so strongly. The vow the congregation takes is:

“With God’s help we will so order our lives after the example of Christ, that this child, surrounded by steadfast love, may be established in the faith, and confirmed and strengthened in the way that leads to life eternal.

It was truly amazing!

As we prepare for this new addition to our family in the Spring there are many things for which we are excited about. For me one of the things I am most excited about is our child being baptized in our Church with the congregation taking the same vow as above. As a parent to be it takes some of the neverousness away. Our Church holds a great deal of family history and we look forward to adding to it.

Once again, thank you Andrew.

WB's first trip

WB likes to travel already. So far WB has been to Haiti, Jamaica, Grand Cayman and Mexico. OK it was a cruise...imagine that. Well WB liked it so it will probably be the first of many (I hope). Here is picture of one of WB's favorite places on the trip.

Have a great day!

WB's first gift!

I just wanted to share what GinGin and Biggie gave WB. For the non-Auburn people out there my apologies.

Yes it is strange that this child is not accommodating chocolate but I feel sure this is only 1 of many things that we will find strange.

Until next time...have a wonderful week!

Hello!

I've really only posted one thing, so thought it might be time! :) WB is currently not a fan of bananas, oatmeal, and CHOCOLATE...and those little marshmellow pumpkins thingys. I'm sure that his or her tastes will become undiscriminating very soon.

One funny story...Southwest ticket agent almost made me cry today (in a good way!) I had to leave this morning on a flight to Tampa and hadn't quite gotten over the queasy icky feeling that seems to hang around most of the day AND I couldn't check in online so it was going to be a later boarding call. I asked if it might be possible to preboard and she said something like, "Oh honey! While you're expecting, you can always preboard!". Very sweet...kudos to Southwest (and a hint for others who will be traveling with pregnant women or small children!)

Have a good day! Love, Martha

Exactly 8 weeks zero days (8.0) and making progress. Just 32 more to go.

Transitional Clothing

My first transitional clothing item. A true statement...although not sure that "queasy" really does the feeling justice sometimes! :)

Andrew, Thank you!

Andrew's life was shorter than it should have been but it showed us how to live with courage. His days were not always the best but he tried to share his humor with all.

Godspeed Andrew!

Welcome!

Welcome! It is truly amazing that we are to this point. It has taken quite some tome to get here.

In our minds we wanted to start a family about 2 years ago (summer 2005 to be exact). Like many times, our timing did not coordinate with God's timing which has led us to today. Over the past 2 years both Martha and I have grown as people and have learned not to take so many things for granted.

Over the past 2 years we have learned of many people who have struggled with starting a family or even growing a family. It seems as if there are stories around each and every corner, stories that many people choose not to share. Like those we struggled with the notion to share or not to share of our infertility struggles. For the most part we only shared what we were going through with family and close friends. Why we chose this we really do not know.

2 years later we are finally expecting!!!! We found out on August 24, 2007 that the most recent treatment worked which meant Martha was pregnant. This past Monday (September 17, 2007) we were able to see the baby's heartbeat (only 1 baby, could have been more) and were released from the fertility Dr. and referred to an 'normal' OB.

Using this blog we hope to share with you what is going on with us as we get ready for this wonderful addition. Over the next few months we will be traveling for work and pleasure and spending a great deal of time preparing our home for a little one. Over time you will see posts about all sorts of things from both Martha and I.

Martha and I are both looking forward to this new addition. The real question is how much is Henry (the dog) looking forward to this new thing....
